Pre-certified insurance is insurance in which the patient has been authorized to undergo the MRI scan procedure by their insurer and establishes that the insurance company is willing to pay for the medical services in question.
NOTE: pre-certification does not guarantee coverage. However, without it, there is no chance of the insurer covering the MRI scan procedure.
Yes, we need a physician, chiropractor, dentist, oral surgeon, PA, or NP order to perform the exam. However, there are limited exceptions for screening exams such as aortic aneurysm screening, and carotid artery screening. This would include screening exams such as “MRA abdomen without contrast, MRA carotid without contrast, and MRA without contrast of the circle of Willis.
